But while Joseph was there in prison, the Lord was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden. So the warden put Joseph in charge of all those held in the prison, and he was made responsible for all that was done there, The warden paid no attention to anything under Joseph’s care, because the Lord was with Joseph and gave him success in whatever he did. [Genesis 39:20-23] Even though Joseph was imprisoned, through no wrongdoing of his own, “the Lord was with him.” No matter where we go, whether to places of our own choosing or to places forced upon us – the Lord goes with us. There is no place we can go that is beyond the Lord’s reach. At various times during our life we may feel that we’re far away from the Lord and all alone. Nothing can be further from the truth. The Lord is always with us – and moreover He’s there desiring to give us success just as He did with Joseph. “…the Lord was with Joseph and gave him success in whatever he did.” The Lord never changes; He is the same yesterday, today and forever [Hebrews 13:8]. What the Lord did in the past for others He is willing and anxious to do today for you. It is the Lord’s desire to keep you from evil and give you an eternal hope-filled future. “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” [Jeremiah 29:11] Today do NOT let your circumstances or situation dictate your attitude. Wherever you find yourself look for the Lord – He’s right there with you. Keep focused on the Lord and seek the Lord’s will for your life. With the Lord there is always a future filled with hope. Walk closer with the Lord today. Your fellow servant in Christ, Pastor Bob.
